According to agents of the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL) and the Philippine National Police’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG), a lot of companies still do not use licensed software in their business premises.
Despite having laws that restricts them from using such software, these companies who continue to violate the provisions of the IP Code of the Philippines (RA 8293) and Optical Media Act (RA 9239) run the risk of business closure, revocation of travel visas and other criminal charges.
The proposed prohibition of pirated software seeks to address a vital problem in the Philippines to alleviate the growing numbers of pirated software users. It will help software developers to prevent theft of intellectual property. Developers worked hard to create a software so it is right to pay in order to use what they made, a payment for their service.
With the rapid development of technology, people are finding more and more ways to avoid paying by downloading pirated softwares. This is very unfair to those who paid to have theirs. Furthermore, it is not the right thing to do, after all, these devs put almost all of their time and effort in order to create a masterpiece.
Although there's a law that aims to ban piracy, it is inevitable to prevent those who want all things for free and it is not enough to stop them. Be one with us, as we lessen those users of pirated softwares. PIRACY, IT'S A CRIME!
STOP SOFTWARE PIRACY, PRESERVE INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY!
